Military Academies & Recruiting

The four major branches of the military are the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, and the Marines. There are also military opportunities in the Coast Guard, the National Guard, and the Reserves. ROTC programs are available for those students who want to attend college before they enter the military.

Technical & Training Schools

Career and technical schools offer short-term training in a wide variety of career fields. While some programs last only a few weeks, others take up to two years to complete. Apprentices learn their trade through a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training.

Workforce Opportunities

On-the-job training is provided by the employer, and it can last anywhere from a few hours to several months.

Community College (Associates Degree & Certificate Programs)

Community colleges provide affordable, career-oriented programs which enable students to begin their careers after two years of college or less. Those completing two-year programs earn associate degrees. Students completing short-term programs (one year or less) receive certificates or diplomas. Transfer to a four-year college to earn a bachelor.

A four-year college education or bachelor’s degree can open doors, provide status, and prepare students for financially rewarding careers. Colleges vary greatly in their size, costs, admission policies, and in the major they offer.
