SENIOR PORTRAITS BY NON-SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHERS ARE DUE DEC. 5
What is a senior portrait?
Senior portraits run in the senior section of the yearbook where each student is photographed outside. This is not the senior ad section of the yearbook where you can purchase space and submit your own photos or baby photos.
What should my senior wear?
Something comfortable and casual that makes you look and feel good and follows the AHS student dress code. Students wear everything from dresses or shirts and ties to jeans and t-shirts to football jerseys or band uniforms.
Can I submit a senior portrait from a photographer I hire?
Yes! Email the picture that you would like to appear in the yearbook to this address ahsyearbook@k12albemarle.org The staff will check the email once a week and send an email confirming that received your picture. If you do not receive a confirmation email, we did not receive the picture and it will not be in the book. Since we will receive a high volume of emails, we ask that you are patient in waiting for a response email. If you do not get a response from us for two or more weeks, then please feel free to email the advisor directly at: lreaser@k12albemarle.org.
The deadline to submit portraits from an outside photographer is Dec. 5, 2025.
What are the general requirements for photos from an outside photographer?
- Portraits MUST be vertical
- Portraits MUST be outdoors, preferably in daylight
- Portraits should be from either waist-up or 3/4 up. Full-body shots don't let us see your face as well, and close-ups will make your head look ginormous compared to the pictures next to yours.
- Please try not to include animals or other big props. The photo should be focused on you. Large animals or cars/trucks will usually have to be cropped out in order for the portrait to fit with the others.
- Outfit must adhere to the AHS dress code
- Picture should be you alone, nobody else.
What are the specific photography requirements?
- Pictures must be 300 ppi resolution.
- JPG or PNG format
- RBG color
- Croppable to 2 x 3
